The Federal Government will reduce the amount supposed to be issued to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, 2013 budget proposal by N11.7 billion by next year through the National Assembly.
The EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Larmode, said this deduction might prevent the agency from achieving its personnel cost in 2013.
Although the anti-graft agency proposed N21, 028,488,772 billion to fund its operations in 2013, the Budget Office approved only N9, 328,159,022 billion, which was less than the commission's requirement to meet expenditure item next year.
In addition to its previous allegations, EFCC was also criticised recently for its seeming lukewarm approach to its anti-corruption fight.
