MTN to retail BlackBerry Z10 in Nigeria

MTN to retail BlackBerry Z10 in Nigeria

Integrated telecoms company MTN is to launch the BlackBerry Z10 in Nigeria barely a week after the handset debuted on home turf in Canada. MTN further stated that customers will be able to place pre-
orders for the handset on its website.

BlackBerry launched the phone in Canada and the UK last week with what it termed as "the best ever launch sales" in the company's history.
UK's major mobile phone retailer Phones 4U later reported that 55 percent of its 686 stores had sold out the handset in its first weekend of sales.
Analysts at ABI Research project that BlackBerry could close the year with almost 20 million BB10 handsets sold worldwide.
"It's beyond expectations. White is sold out already. The black is hard to stock up again. It's very encouraging," BlackBerry president and CEO Thorsten Heins told the Associated Press earlier this week.
Nigeria being MTN's largest customer base, and with BlackBerry as one of the most widely used smartphones in the country the move to introduce the BlackBerry Z10 phone into the market is seen as the telecom company's strategy to beat its major competitors in the products and services category.
